Modification Info and Help

Technical advisor for bike modifications. For members ONLY! You may contact him initially via e-mail with your question to see if he can help you. He is very knowledgable about adapting bikes for disabled riders and has volunteered to share that knowledge. However, he prefers phone calls since typing is slow and difficult for him. Vonage internet (VOIP) phone line allows Don to call anywhere in the USA with no long distance charge. It is (206) 330-2049.

Bikes To Trikes
I would like to introduce our dealership Bikes To Trikes located in Denver Colorado. Bikes To Trikes is a motorcycle trike dealer offering service and sales for Motor Trike, Trike Shop, Lehman Trikes, and the Rokon 2-wheel drive off-road motorcycle. We also provide in house design and machining of custom controls for disabled riders. We have been offering this service for over 2 years but have not previously advertised that we did so. One of our recent customers told me that she had spent 8 months searching for a trike dealer that could customize a trike for her needs. She told me that many motorcycle and trike dealers will not even discuss providing custom controls. She was quite frustrated and about to give up on her search when see found us. We can build complete control systems from scratch and often use components from the manufacturers currently listed on this page. Please give me a call if you would like to know more about Bikes To Trikes and our capabilities.

Automatic Clutches

Rekluse manufacturers an automatic clutch for Harley Davidson motorcycles. The ProStart Clutch allows the rider to simply control starting and stopping the bike with the throttle. The clutch can still be used for shifting or the bike can be clutchless shifted. We are finding that the ProStart has significant value for riders who have loss partial or all the use of their left hand.

Sidecars/Trikes

General information on sidecars:

Scott Hancock can ride his wheelchair onto his sidecar, pull up the ramp, and ride away.

The controls have all been moved from the motorcycle to the sidecar. His wife, Toni, sits in the passenger seat of the bike when she rides with him. It works, but with the appearance of two passengers and no rider, the rig draws some stares.
